50 Sculptures was a project of, you guessed it, 50 sculptures! I had planned a trip to San Francisco to attend and speak at a conference called Nearly Impossible - so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone and have a little exhibition at Little Paper Planes. I had done a similar project a year before - so this felt like the second iteration, though a bit more ambitious. 

I love welding because it's basically like a hot glue gun. The process lends itself well to rapid, improvisational making. 

I have a close relationship with my powder coater, I'm there almost every day, and I was able to talk him into doing a two coating on some of these pieces. They almost feel like a ceramic glaze.
